Presenting emotional, passionate, and powerful vocals with eclectic guitar, bass, and drum stylings has propelled this group to the top 5 finalist position in 2011’s Blues Foundation International Blues Challenge. This year’s BluesFest goers will be engaged by this dynamic performance of original tunes.
Leading the band, Deb Landolt is a powerhouse blues/soul vocalist and songwriter who continues to bring audiences to their knees wherever she goes. Praised by other artists, critics, and fans alike for her dynamics and technical skill, she brings a wide range of emotion and passion to her music.
Since releasing their debut recording “Diamonds on the Desert Floor” in 2010, Long Tall Deb and the Drifter Kings have firmly established themselves as a group on the rise. Produced by Blues Mob’s Michael Hill, the album features eleven original recordings that blend a heady mix of powerful storytelling with swampy, gutbucket soul.
Listening to Long Tall Deb and the Drifter Kings, you get a sense of what “drifter” means: musical influences of San Francisco’s Latin and jazz scene and that unmistakably bi-coastal NY-LA connection.
The band includes Long Tall Deb Landolt on vocals, John Aspromonte on guitar & vocals, Melvin Powe on bass, and Doug Oscard on drums.
Doug Oscard is also presenting a drum clinic 5-6 pm Friday on the MICA Stage. This clinic will highlight ethnic rhythm patterns, including the rumba, second line street beat and others, and demonstrate how they influence today’s rock and blues music.
